ALGERIA

Chair

Algeria, with a population of 44 million and a GDP of $170 billion in 2023, plays a vital role in the global economy through its oil and gas exports, which contribute over 95% of its trade earnings. The country’s per capita income stands at $3,800, and GDP growth is 2.7%. Although oil and gas dominate the economy, recent reforms focus on diversifying sectors like agriculture, mining, and tourism.

Significant investment opportunities lie in mining, with large reserves of iron ore and phosphate, while tourism remains an untapped sector with potential for growth due to Algeria’s cultural and historical richness. Foreign direct investment (FDI) is increasingly being channeled into energy, mining, and infrastructure projects.
