BELARUS

Belarus, with a population of approximately 9.3 million (2023), is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe known for its strong industrial base and agricultural output. The economy is characterized by a mix of state-owned enterprises and private sector initiatives, with key sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, and services. Belarus is a significant producer of machinery, chemicals, and agricultural products such as potatoes and dairy, contributing to its export portfolio. With a GDP estimated at around $70 billion and a per capita income of approximately $7,500 (2023), Belarus has experienced economic challenges due to geopolitical tensions and sanctions, which have impacted trade. However, its strategic location between Russia and the European Union positions it as an important transit hub and trade partner in the region.

The Belarusian government and business community can engage with the World Business Council to foster innovation, enhance sustainability practices, and explore new international partnerships to strengthen economic resilience and diversification.
