Benin, with a population of around 13 million and a GDP of approximately $18 billion in 2023, plays a notable role in West Africa’s economy. The country’s economy is predominantly agricultural, with cotton being a major export, contributing significantly to its trade balance. Benin’s per capita income is about $1,400. Over the past 25 years, the government has focused on improving infrastructure and diversifying its economy, creating opportunities in sectors such as mining and renewable energy.

The country holds potential in expanding its mining sector, with resources like limestone and gold. Tourism is also an emerging sector. Recent reforms aim to enhance the business environment and attract foreign direct investment (FDI), positioning Benin as a promising investment destination in the region.
