ECUADOR

Chair

Ecuador, with a population of around 18 million (2023), is a nation rich in biodiversity and natural resources, contributing significantly to its economic framework. The economy is primarily driven by oil, agriculture, and fisheries. As one of the largest exporters of bananas and shrimp in the world, Ecuador relies heavily on these commodities alongside cacao and flowers, which play a vital role in international trade. With a GDP estimated at approximately $110 billion and a per capita income of about $6,000 (2023), the country has been working towards economic diversification to reduce dependence on oil revenues. Ecuador is strategically located along the equator, which enhances its agricultural capabilities and facilitates trade with global markets.

Ecuador’s government and business community can partner with the World Business Center to enhance sustainable practices, develop innovative agricultural techniques, and expand export opportunities for greater economic resilience.
