Iceland, with a population of approximately 370,000 (2023), is a Nordic island nation renowned for its stunning natural landscapes, geothermal activity, and unique culture. The economy is characterized by a combination of services, fisheries, and renewable energy. Fishing remains a cornerstone of the economy, contributing significantly to exports, while the tourism sector has experienced remarkable growth in recent years, attracting visitors to its dramatic landscapes, including geysers, glaciers, and volcanic formations. With a GDP estimated at around $25 billion and a per capita income of approximately $70,000 (2023), Iceland boasts one of the highest standards of living in the world. The country’s commitment to sustainability, particularly through its use of renewable energy sources like geothermal and hydropower, positions it as a leader in environmental stewardship.   

The Icelandic government and business community can collaborate with the World Business Council to promote sustainable tourism practices, enhance innovations in renewable energy, and strengthen international trade relationships for inclusive economic growth.
